Empowering the Next Generation of Chess Players
BBCC Chess Academy, located at Bruce J. Host Library in Tallahassee, Florida, meets every Saturday from 2–3 PM to help students grow through chess. Through lessons, practice resources, tournaments, and guided training, BBCC helps players of all levels improve while building confidence, discipline, and problem-solving skills.
What We Do
Learn
Students learn the chessboard, how pieces move, checkmate, and basic strategy.
Practice
Students solve puzzles, review positions, and use Lichess study embeds to improve.
Compete
Students learn tournament rules, clocks, notation, pairings, and sportsmanship.

BBCC Chess Academy supports BBCC Chess Club by giving students and families a place to review lessons, practice puzzles, and get ready for tournaments between weekly meetings.
